Minimally Invasive Surgery

The idea of facing surgery can be frightening. Fear of pain, disability, and scarring are among the undesirable side effects of surgery. However, with advances in technology, the undesirable side effects of surgery can be greatly lessened. Minimally invasive surgery, or laparoscopic surgery, utilizes small instruments and cameras to achieve the same surgical results that previously required large incisions. Minimally invasive surgery has been proven to be just as effective and safe as open surgery.
Most minimally invasive operations require 4 to 6 small incisions (1 inch or less). The benefits are reduction in pain, scarring, quicker return to daily activities, and maintaining our health.
The most commonly performed operations include:
  • Laparoscopic Weight Loss Surgery
  • Laparoscopic Colon Surgery for Diverticulitis
  • Laparoscopic Colon Surgery for Cancer
  • Laparoscopic Gallbladder Surgery
  • Laparoscopic Anti-reflux Surgery
  • Laparoscopic Hernia Surgery
  • Laparoscopic Removal of the Spleen
  • Laparoscopic Adrenal Surgery
Most people are good candidates for minimally invasive surgery; however, it is not for all patients. To find out if you are a good candidate for laparoscopic surgery, call our office to schedule an appointment for a consultation with a surgeon.
